Render Removal / Repointing

Posted by Paul Fazackerley, on
The rear or my house is pebble-dashed (done in about 1985); there's some evidence of cracks having been repaired between then and us buying the property 4 years ago however further cracks have appeared. This is letting in water during bad weather so we were thinking we would have the render removed, the brickwork repointed and around the windows resealed. Is this the right course of action and which trade should I post the job for? I've already posted under renderers and repointers with no replies from either.

You are talking about quite a major operation here. Should you elect to fill the obvious cracks and treat the wall with siloxane silicone spray, it will cost you a fraction of the cost . Google raincheck, enviroseal or wicks have a solvent based one though I forget the name. This system works well if applied liberally .
