Chimney removal

Posted by Garry Myles, on
Do I need to contact the local authority regarding lower chimney breast removal, if the upper chimney was previously removed for a loft conversion?

Hi Garry, unless the building is listed or in a conservation area then I would say no. For your own piece of mind it is easy to contact the authorities to give you guidance. Regards Paul. Total roofing care.

Hi Garry You may not need planning permission But to keep everything correct you may need to Contact your local building control as any masonry Removal mostly needs there approval. Hope this helps Slb brickwork

No planning permission required. Remember to render the old chimney area with a waterproof render or ammonium sulphate contamination to the interior surface will cause hygroscopic dampness later. Google it for full information , this is very important .
