Allan, I would try to find a company that will complete the whole job and then they will Project Manage it for you. Also, they will use trusted tradesmen whom they have worked with for numerous years or employ themselves and know how the job should be completed. This will be slightly more expensive but well worth it. I do this but unfortunately I am in Bournemouth, but please do make sure that they; 1) Have a tradesmen that purely does a specific trade, e.g. Electrician (only Electrics), Plasterer (only plastering), Carpenter (only carpentry), etc. 2) If they use local Tradesmen to complete these, then get the company names and check them out on the Internet to see if they have reviews on any sites 3) I stress do not use a Jack of All Trades Person has you will never get that fully professional finish. 4) Also, only agree to pay for materials on delivery (then these materials will belong to you) and agree stage payments as certain parts of the work are completed to your satisfaction, e.g. Plastering of a Room, First fix plumbing pipe work in and full of water, Room decorated, Kitchen Fitted, Radiators hung and piped up, etc. these are things that you can see and know is completed. 5) Always advise you will keep a retainer of 10% for 1 month after work completed to make sure no problems.
