Feasibility of patio to rear of bungalow.

Posted by Keith Waters, on
This is very much a feasibility study at this stage and so I would like to know if the following scheme is sensible. Also what price would I be expected to pay for this work, which is too much for me to do single-handed. I’m considering paving the area to the rear of my bungalow to form a patio. The rear exterior wall of the bungalow is straight and the total length of the paved area (running along back of bungalow) would be 15 m. For half of this length the area would extend by 4m from the bungalow and by 2 m for the other half. The total area is thus approximately 45 m^2. There is an existing small patio, a concrete path and some odd stone flower bed edgings that would need to be destroyed but could presumable be used for hard core under the new patio. There is also a manhole cover that, by chance, already seems to be located at approximately patio level. The patio would be approximately level with the damp course and so I presume would need to be built with a gap running the full length of the bungalow with the patio surface draining away from bungalow (there is no hindrance to achieving the required slope).
