This can be a very serious problem, you may have dry rot. Get a CSRT surveyor to look at it . Most damp and timber companies have one . Do not delay. If its from a plumbing leak, it could be coverd by insurance as water damage.

The joist on my bay windows have rotten due to a longstanding leak...im at a loss as what to do. many thanks
