Posted by Sharon Beagal, on
If I'm completing a large scale home improvement job should I purchase the materials myself or get the tradesmen I hire to do so?

buy the stuff your self ask him for a list , go to your nearest merchants dressed in work cloths ask for discount , a builder will only round up the money he would charge for materials , there nothing wrong with that after all it his time in picking them them up cheers

Hi Char, It's completely down to you, you may wish to source materials yourself or just leave to your contractor. Kind regards Paul Davis Total roofing care.

Hello Sharon, Welcome to the site. If you get them then you're not going to have a mark up to pay on the materials, but do you want the hassle! Best to get an on site survey/quotation done, this is a free service to you and you will get 3 quotes. Simply post your job onto rated people's site. You are not obliged to go with any of the quotes- but every job that's posted is paid for by the relevant tradesmen .if they contact you that means they are interested in your job. If one of them are awarded the job then great news for you both. ratedpeople.com Regards Michael
