Who is the best person to contact about possibility of removing supporting wall between kitchen and dining room? What can I expect to be charged?

You must employ a structural engineer to design a special piece of support steel called a RSJ , he will draw how it must be fitted and what support is required whilst the wall is down then most builders can follow the instructions . Do not take any short cuts , the house will fall down!

you contact a builder who will take down wall and insert an rsj a steel beam 150mm in depth and 200mm wider than opening sitting on 2 padstones a structural engineer will give you calculations for this building works should cost between £750 to £1100
