Water leak above a window - finding the cause?

Posted by Heather Hailstone, on
I have a water leak into a room from, apparently, above the window. It is close under a roof. Should I get a builder or a roofer to inspect and determine cause?

Hi Heather, This could be something as simple as a slipped/broken tile, this would cause water to ingress onto the top of the window, the chances of the window frame leaking is very slim, what you are describing is a job for a roofer. So to answer your Question I think your first call should be a roofer. Regards Sam

In most cases this will be a leak into the cavity above the window , entering from the roof and running down the inside of the wall until it reaches the window frame , where it becomes apparent . In some cases it can be a crack above the window or the actual frame it's self . You will need more information prior to calling a roofer or a handyman .
