Cavity insulation

Posted by Rosamond Cole, on
Hello - I have an end-of-terrace Victorian cottage with an extension which is not cavity insulated - would cavity insulation make a significant difference to warmth? Thank you.

Hello Rosamond, It would most certainly make a difference.search for a good insulation cavity fill. The mark group are a good company to try, they will also try and get you a grant Regards Michael

HI Rosamond You need to find out of your walls have a cavity in them first. British Gas and similar companies are currently doing free cavity wall insulation because they have to drive down the country's carbon foot print. Might be worth giving them a call. If it turns out that you don't have a cavity you may want to think about internal insulation or even external insulation. Internal insulation will eat up about 50-60 mm of space and you will have to move the skirting/coving forward etc. External insualtion is boarded insulation on the outside and normally rendered over. Hope the advice helps. Sam (eps)

Hi Rosamond It would make a big difference, look under cavity insulation companies, they will look if you do have a cavity and if its not blocked up and if your entitled to any grants. Regards Barry
