Wall cavity ties

Posted by Vijay Hawoldar, on
Hi, We have just had a home buyers survey carried out on a terraced house we're looking at purchasing. The surveyor has told us that it looks like the wall cavity ties are corroded which is not unusual for the type of property. He did point out that he can't really confirm that they have corroded because the house was recently painted, but the neighbours definitely have as there is clear horizontal cracking. Should we pay to have an independent wall cavity tie survey carried out? Is that even a thing? Thanks in advance

Hi yes there is a way of carrying out a survey , you could get a surveyor but a cheaper option would be to get a good builder to work out how many ties you have or have not in the wall. Hope that helps
