Leaking Window

Posted by Darren Bayliss, on
Hi I have a leak above the window causing damage to the plaster. I am thinking of spraying silicone to the exterior wall around the lintel might help. This leak only happens in driving rain.

Darren, It's more than likely that the silicon mastic between the window case and lintel itself has failed this allowing water to drip inside. The solution is to reseal the mastic as this will make it water tight. As a general rule burnt sand mastic and linseed oil for timber windows and silicon sealent for plastic u.p.v.c. Around18 pounds a linear would get this work done. Dave Edinburgh Stonecraft.
