Water seepage

Posted by Patricia Semmens, on
With the recent heavy rain, water is seeping into the room on one wall. It shows itself around the patio doors but we have re-mortared any cracks around there and it has not stopped so don't know if it is due to the patio door fitting or a different problem with the brickwork/rendering. Don't know who to contact as none of your categories under the 'builder' option seem to fit.

Investigation would be required as my experience has shown that the leak is not always where it shows itself on the wall. THe category would be bricklayer

Your problem is quite common , what is not common is someone who can fix it! There are three possible problems , the patio level is too high , the door base is too low or water is entering the wall at high level but only exiting the wall at the base( this can only happen if the wall is cavity) You need a competent damp proofer for this job .
