Damp problem, upstairs and down.

Posted by Cindy Miles, on
I have a end of terrace house which has been rendered by previous owners following subsidence. Apparently this has all been underpinned and is now fine, however, I have damp/mould on the inside of both upstairs and downstairs rooms, from the front wall and side wall of the property. Do I need a builder to investigate the problem? Where do I start?

Hi Cindy It is more than likely that the render is below the damp course line. the damp travels up the render, by passing the course, and continuing on. Our recent weather would not have helped. get it checked out, it wont go away. if i'm right, the render beneath the course will have to be cut away hope this helps, mike

Where black spot mould occurs there can be no salts present , if moisture was coming through the wall in any way laterally or horizontally , there would be salts present . What you have is condensation on the wall ( pure water) .

What would you like to do now?
