Hi John, Tap the wall, if it sounds hollow then it is plasterboard, if it sounds solid it is plaster. To hang the cabinet on plasterboard, bearing in mind that it will weigh more when it is full of stuff, cut a cavity behind where the holes or brackets to hang the cupboard will go. Get a piece of timber as long as the cupboard is wide less a couple of cm (the holes for hanging cupboards tend to be in the corners so you need them to line up but not be visible) cut the hole in the plasterboard to fit this timber at the height that you want the cupboard brackets to go and screw the timber to whatever is behind using rawlplugs and the longest screws it will take. Try to use timber that is the same depth as the cavity, or sits in a little (if it sticks out it won't work) and then attach the cupboard to the timber. Tah da! A bit long winded but I hope it helps, good luck! Best wishes Mostafa Bedford Building Maintenance
