Turning an arch into a passageway

Posted by sarah duigan, on
An archway was knocked out and turned into a wider rectangular passageway witha wooden frame. There is a 20 cm semi circle gap above the wooden frame where the top of the arch was. What material should I use to fill in the gap?

Hi Sarah, I would suggest making a timber frame from batten or similar material depending on the thickness of the wall fix this in place, then cutting plasterboard into the semi circle shape and fixing it to the frame so that the face of the board comes flush with the face of the wall. Copy this for both sides and then apply a plastered finish. Hope this helps. Premier Plastering, Swindon.
