Leaking extension

Posted by Sheila Crossley, on
Had a new extension which involved removing an existing external wall and a RSJ put in. It was all done professionally with an architect, building regs and surveyor involved. However, in heavy, windy rain it is leaking, with watermarks appearing under the RSJ. What could be causing it and what questions do I need to ask?

There is a crack on the outside wall . Spray the wall with Siloxane silicone , called enviroseal .

Hello Sheila, You really need an on site inspection. The problem is Sheila, your architect nor your surveyor will have seen how this work has been carried out. If you have a leak, then the work has not been carried out in accordance with the specification. I bet your architect nor your surveyor will be interested. Firstly get the builder who did it to come out and repair it. Yes you can put it on this site to get a free quotation to rectify, but why should you pay twice. Regards Michael

Hi Sheila That really would be a hard one to answer without seeing the fault. Post it on line with rated people and get someone to look at it JC
