Chimney breast, fireplace renovation

I have been trying to a builder to come out to renovate my chimney breast/fireplace which will involve knocking the plaster off the chimney breast to the brick, re-point if necessary. Open up the fireplace to take a stove effect fire, build out on either side to take an oak beam. I've had people say they will come out but don't turn up, 2 people have been but then didn't get back to me and I've advertised twice on Rated People and only got a Tiler offering to do it. Is the job too small, to messy, not worth it for the money? I live in Warrington, Cheshire.
