Multi fuel stove installation

Posted by Ahmad Kibriya, on
My question is i have a chimney that has a 9" clay liner that runs at an angle accross from the top left to the bottom right as you look at the chimney breast that means that a new stove cant be fitted as the clay pots are not central so after calling a hetas engineer he advised removing the bottom 4-5 clay pots and then putting a liner in and then connecting to the stove and also removing the 4" lintels at the bottom that hold the weight of the clay pots. so we have more clearance for a higher stove, can a builder carry out this work as this engineer is too expensive

A builder could do the work, it would have to comply with building regs and be signed off by a building inspector. I have fitted about 10 burners this way and it nigates the use of a hetas enginener. It could be worth you speaking to a building inspector for advise
