Planning permission

Posted by Greg Gillwald, on
Need to remove an internal supporting wall and get a steel fitted. How do I go about planning permission. Or does the builder take care of it? Thanks

Viorel Tudor

Hi Greg, You will need a structural engineer inspection/report in order to confirm the steps of safely removing the wall. You will then need to forward the structural engineer plans to your local council under Building Notice Application with a fee of £150 roughly and you have to fill in this application within three days before the work will start:, this building notice permission is different from planning permission, much easier and quicker, this application will inform the council that you will remove a structural supporting wall in to your property (according with structural engineer plans and calculation) and you will need the local council building inspector to investigate and safety report the structural alteration from your property. This are the steps that you can do, but may be easier to contact a general builder and he can easily deal with your project from start to finish. Thank you Best regards Tudor Construction Services Ltd

Its building regulations you need for removinga wall, a good builder will sort this or you can do it yourself via the council building control departmant or a local independat building inspector. Either way you need a completion certificate
