Removal of Load Bearing Wall - Internal Conversion

I have a very small kitchen and would like to create a kitchen/diner by removing a load bearing (I think!!) wall. Tbh I don't know what kind of tradesman I need - a builder, a structural engineer or both? Will I need any planning permission (house is not listed etc, just a 1930s semi)? And I'm not entirely sure how I want the room laid out - would a good builder be able to advise me on this? Feeling very out of my depth and worried about being talked into things I don't actually need! Thanks.
