hi Monica, i would start from the top and work down. it sounds as if your roof needs looking at. if your house is quite old it my require re-roofing because quite a few leak and it could be the felt in the loft. also do a thorough check on all other areas of the roof like pointing along chimney, gable end, ridge etc. if nothing is found look for other areas like windows.
