We are remortgaging our flat (terraced Victorian conversion, three flats in the building, we are on the top floor) and our valuation report instructed that we had a structural engineer come and inspect our property.
The structural engineer noted that the cracking had occurred in the front elevation of our house, due to the 'joints in the window architrave had opened slightly, the pattern of which suggests that the right-hand side of the window has dropped very slightly', known as deflection.
He recommended that we replace the existing timber supports. Does anybody know how much this would be to do? We were wondering if it was worth it to go for the remortgage. We have building insurance, would this be covered by it?
