Window

Posted by niki james, on
We have brought a new window its 9cm bigger than the older one in height.Above the window is a wooden beam(1930s house) so we would like the bricks and wooden beam to take out and placed back higher to make hole big enough fo the new window to be fitted.

Hi Nikki the first question I would ask myself is why buy a window bigger than the existing opening, was it cheap! By the time you removed the existing lintel and brickwork, enlarged the opening and replastered inside it would have been cheaper and quicker to have bought a correctly sized window. Also the lintel height would be out with the rest of the windows, the best advice I can give is get the right sized window! Ed
