Penetrating damp?

Posted by Jason Smith, on
I have a 3 bed semi built in approx 1885. I have 2 small damp patches which appear midway way up my wall following a heavy rainstorm. I had new felt and batons fitted to my roof in February and it is definitely watertight. I have cleared the gutters and even added an extra down pipe to increase the speed at which the water is taken away. I do not have a chimney and no windows on the wall at which the damp appears. I have no pipes in the wall or on the loft space. I have checked everything and everywhere I can think off. The exterior of the wall is pebbledashed and looks to be in good condition with no obvious signs of damage. I am at a loss as to where to look next or turn to for help/ advice. Thanks.

The pebal dash may have airline cracks in. And if it is unpainted it may be saturated with the rain. that moisture from the rain is working its way onto the inside of your wall. If your symptoms are only visible are after heavy rainfall. It Kind of suggests it. The wall will not breath and release moisture as good as it could. Have you tried a water repellent.
