Rainwater pooling at side of house

After heavy rain a section of my patio collects water which pools against the outside of my house wall. Can i raise and seal the patio so that water flows away from the house or do I need specialist drainage as i am worried the minor flooding again and again will hurt the foundations. which section would this job be posted in?
