Giving money up front

Posted by Dan Pulleyn, on
Is it unusual to give a 10% deposit up front on a large job?

martin wilburn

Not really, depending on the size of the job I take a 20% deposit on the day I start and a load of materials turn up, this way I know my materials are paid for. It does work both ways as a customer can easily refuse to make any payment after work has been done

Hi Dan. No not at all, I take a % plus interim payments if over several weeks. as long as you have in writing/contract then you should be fine. Steve

Not at all, However I would make sure you get a receipt for this signed by yourself and the contractor, and if possible get a contract written up between yourself and the contractor. Hope this helps
