you haven't given enough information but if the lump can be depressed by standing on it , its caused by the flooring being too tight against the surrounding walls , there needs to be a 5mm gap all round.

HI Sharon you didn't say if the floor is concrete or timber as the cause of the problem will vary for each type. Also was the lounge originally two rooms which were knocked into one? The floor levels may vary slightly and this may cause the lump in the floor, it could also be down to the end of the joists rotting, is there any bounce in the floor? You will need to investigate further to find out the problem. Ed
