Cracked brickwork

Posted by Sean McKenna, on
I live in a end terraced house, the gable end was re built around 15 years ago (i think). About a quarter of the way down from the top where the gable end meets the front of the house i have noticed a crack which works its way to the ground. This mainly looks like the mortor that has cracked but some bicks have too. There is no signs of cracking from inside the house and there is no evidence of subsidence. What should i do?

It's probably a little settlement, if there is no movement inside and you are not selling the house just fix a strap across it to monitor any more movement. I wouldn't advise you try and point it as frequently it's done so badly that instead of fixing the problem, it just serves to highlight it. Hope this helps. J c
