Raise floor level

Posted by Kelv Clee, on
Hello, We are carrying out kitchen alteration project, as a part of the work we need to raise the kitchen side floor about 7inches to match with the rest of the rooms. The kitchen side is concrete at the moment, and we would like the finished floor to be laminate flooring. What would be the best way to raise the floor level? Concert or timber joists? If we use concert do we have a long wait before we can fit the laminate floorboards? Many thanks!

Hi Kev you could use concrete or screed with insulation underneath but you would have to leave it to dry thoroughly before you laid the laminate so the quickest option is treated timber joists with chipboard or softwood boards on top, you could still put insulation in. Ed
