Hi, I have a small (approx. 2mx3m), covered area that is bare earth now but which I would like to lay concrete upon to help make a space for some secure outside storage.
I'm a total novice, and will rope in help and advice from others with only amateur experience, but am prepared to give this a go on my own on the basis that it's a small area that will only ever be used for storage, so does not have to be a work of art.
I have read that I would need a layer of flattened hardcore, then a layer of flattened sand, then a waterproof membrance, then a level layer of concrete that I'll mix myself.
First of all, is this broadly right? If I need something different, what is it?
Second of all, what is the best way to a) calculate how much of each element I need; and b) buy the things I need?
Any and all advice for this total novie would be greeatly appreciated.
