Hi Angela a builder can assess this for you and confirm whether it's load bearing or not, you would not calculations for the steel joist if it's load bearing to comply with building regs. Ed

Can a competent builder check this or do I have to go to massive expense of getting a structural engineer in. I am almost certain it is not load bearing as many of houses in street have had this removed with no need for beams. It is therefore likely that I can remove it too?
