Removing metal door frames

Posted by Mathew Owens, on
Hi, We've moved into a 1950s ex council house and it has metal door frames internally. Apparently they're a nightmare to remove and it's a job for a builder?? Anyone have experience with these and rough ideas on how big a job this is? Cheers

Hi Matthew the problem you will have is the brickwork sits inside the metal frame flange and they maybe tied into the brickwork so you would have to cut it into small sections to get it out, you may also find that the brickwork is less stable once the frame is removed. It might be worthwhile considering stripping the layers of paint from the frames and re-using them. Ed
