Cracks to rendering

Posted by Patricia Tabberer, on
I recently had the cracks to rendering repaired on the upper part of my house. The plasterer told me that one of the cracks in the brickwork was two inches wide and he had wired these with expanding metal before re-plastering. As he did not consult me before carrying out the repair to this particular crack 'my hands were tied' and I'm not sure whether at that stage I should have consulted a structural engineer. Is it possible for someone to carry out some sort of x-ray/photograph of this repair before re-painting so that I can be sure that any structural work is not required? If so, who would I contact? Advice appreciated. Patricia.

Never heard of such a thing , but if there isn't any other movement and he's tied it in then why worry as most buildings can move and crack at certain points , basically just keep an eye on the inside if cracks start reappearing then you have more movement Then you should have it checked if this happens .
