Removing an internal wall

Posted by Asomi Ithia, on
Hi, I would like to remove an internal load bearing wall. It is around 7 metres long. What do I need to do, are there any approvals required, how long should it take to complete?

Hi I would strongly advise if you are removing a 7 m internal load bearing wall to speak with a structural engineer who would most likely make a drawing available for a good builder to follow in how to take down appropriately and where and what kind of RSJ's or lintels are required and where required. You may also need to contact your local planning permission and get permission approved to do so. It's quite a substantial wall to take away so I'd go about it the correct way as if you don't you could possibly bring down everything up above this wall. Hope this helps.

What would you like to do now?
