Chimney breast removal

Posted by Rebecca , on
We are looking to remove our chimney breast throughout the house, ie living room on ground floor and bedroom on first floor, in a terrace house. Many people have told us this is a huge expensive job as the chimney stack is shared with our neighbour. Is it possible to remove the chimney breast from the two floors and leave the stack? If so how much would I roughly be looking at it costing?

Hi Rebecca Yes it is possible, I have done this quite a few times tbh You have to break the ceilings in the top bedrooms, use accrow props and Strongboys to grip into the brickwork You can then demolish from the top chimney down to ground floor chimney The Hole between the two floors where the hearth is needs filling in with wood joists and hoist hangers The cost per chimney is £900-00 so 3 levels would be £1800-00 This Includes Waste Materials Removal You will need to support the chimney in the loft with Steel and Gallows Brackets Then there is the filling in of the holes where the chimneys are and making good the ceilings Total Cost is around £3500-00 to £4500-00 Regards Jason
