Dismantle and rebuild wardrobe

Hi there,
In a bit of a pickle - bought a lovely Laura Ashley wardrobe but it won't fit round the tight corner at the top of my stairs. I can take the doors off but the rest of the frame is very well built. Is it possible to take enough of the frame apart (possibly just the top bar of the wardrobe, or the bottom part) then rebuild it in situ?
