New interior doors

Posted by Kate Pegg, on
Should my newly fitted interior bedroom doors fit flush to the floor? should there be a gp big enough for me to run my fingers under whilst opening on to carpet?

Hi Kate the door should just clear the carpet in the area it swings, you often find there is a gap underneath the door when it's shut as the carpet tucks into the door bar pulling the carpet lower. Any structural movement in the floors can also affect the gap under the doors.Test the door by opening it and seeing if it just clears the carpet. Rising butt hinges can help to get over this problem but can be a pain as they swing shut. Ed
