Damp on Internal Upstairs wall

Posted by Caroline Waldron, on
Hi, Last year I purchased a property. It is a fairly old house. On the upstairs internal bedroom wall we noted a damp patch. We assumed it was the roof and so had a roofer to come and look who was baffled and could not find the cause. We therefore had a surveyor come who told it could be from where an old chimney breast was removed and it would dry out in time. This appeared to dry out well over the summer. However last weekend during a particularly heavy downpour we have had more water coming through and down the wall. This lead us to believe it was the roof once again. We have again had a roofer out who still cannot see a problem. He is going to come back when it starts heavy raining again. Any ideas? I am really concerned as it seems to be making the upstairs of my home damp
