Repainting plaster walls with Dulux emulsion is taking 3-4 coats and still coverage is not outstanding. We are fed up and disappointed with the product.

Hi Keith I have heard the other responses I agree with most of them, dulux I rate ideal for covering new pastered walls, but the finish is not coming to a standard that you are not happy then check your pastered walls if they are okay then I would be concerned with the paint I truthfully I would use a high quality paint as in farrow & ball but again I do feel its your walls, there is too many factors involved depending whereyour light is coming intothe rooms.

Dulux is one of the better brands around and is well known for coverage. Hopefully you have put a mist coat on being a coat thinned down to allow for penetration to the substrate.I can only think the colours you are using is either a clear base or a very deep base .This normally happens with yellows, reds and a few other colours. Because the base is clear or deep this will not allow for coverage of a normal(light or pastel) base. The only thing to do is to apply another coat or 2. I have experienced this problem in the past and that is the only soloution. It would normallly be that a decorator would spot the problem before starting and apply a dark colour to the surface as a miss coat or primer coat.
