Help plasterboard walls

Posted by Katherine Warriner, on
Hi There, I need some help, my bedroom plasterboard walls were never sealed before emulsion was put on them followed by paper years later and the more paint over that. We have stripped off the paper and have found the layer of paint underneath is also coming away, we have some minor dings in the wall as well. What I am asking is can I sand down the wall to get remaining paint off and to make it smooth or would it be easier to get a plasterer to skim the wall??

Katherine my suggestion, as a painter decorator you seem to be DIY persons, but be careful in what you take on, my personal opinion sand excess paint you have on the walls, then give it 1 weak coat of paint that will tell if you have a lot or small amount of repairing, any good decorator could sort it out if you feel that you want a really good job get a plasterer in to do the job, should only take a day to plaster depending the size of room max 1.5 days.
