How to remove gloss paint from exterior wooden door frame

I've used far too much gloss paint on exterior wooden door frame, lots of drips and splodges, i tried removing it whilst it was still wet and now it's a complete mess, how am i best removing the gloss so i can start again? and what cleaning product could remove it?
