How to burn off excess gloss paint

I recently painted an exterior door frame with gloss, i used too much and i ended up with drips and splodges, i tried removing them before it had dried properly and now it's a complete mess, i was advised to burn off the excess gloss paint and sand it down, what could i use to burn off the paint and how would i do it? thanks
