Painting walls prone to condensation

Posted by Laura Barley, on
Is anti condensation paint useful for painting walls that are prone to condensation or would I be best with a paint additive?

Hello... Condensation on cold walls is a problem that I have solved by using a product called Wallrock. This product is a fibre liner, that is type of lining that's not paper but a fibre. This is put on to keep the walls insulated, therefore warm and keeping the condensation to a minimum. Wallrock is sold at most decorating stores, I get mine from Crown. Thank you Joseph

Anti Condensation paints are not "Anti" they actually soak up the moisture and breath it out The paint will not stop the condensation, although it will "look better" but will not solve your condensation, and depending where it is and how bad, over time you may see the mould!! Controlling the relative humidity in your home is one way to tackle condensation, and the condensation needs some thought. you may have extractor fans for example that just need replacing to a better specification to pull more air out. any decent trade person would ask where is the moisture? which room? why do you think it get condensation. and deal with the issue of why there is condensation - is it a bathroom? lets say every time you shower or take a bath condensation builds up on the walls. or the kitchen everytime you are cooking, or the outside wall in another room? Middle of wall, bottom of wall, top of wall? the managing of the issue. Im sorry but the De-Humidifier answers have very little benifit or solution. and is actually a stupid answer trust me.... this is not an answer from an expert. anyone else thinks a De Humidifier is the answer im copying the whole page and posting it on youve been framed.

Hi Laura, the best thing to do is to tackle the condense damp first by using a anti mould cleaner. Remove all evidence of the black mould. You can op to repaint using an anti moisture paint or a vinyl matt /silk. Finally to be sure that the condense damp doesn't reappear air your room on a regular basis, hanging washing out to dry is a a large Factor for condense to reform.

Anti condensation paints are very good but the areas need to be clean for it to work, If you suffer with a lot of condensation a humidifier may be a good investment.

Condensation paints only prohibit the staining caused by condensation they don't stop the problem. Regards thebuilderssw.com
