Removal of woodchip paper from ceilings?

Posted by Jane Morris, on
What's the best method for removing woodchip paper from ceilings? I suspect the ceiling is not in good shape underneath so may need replastering. Is it better to employ a tradesman to remove the paper? And which category of tradesman, plasterer or decorator, or one for each job?

Hello... The paper stripping is a hard job if you don't have a lot of experience. The best bet is to employ both trades as each will be very good at there own work. Although each tradesmen can do both jobs to a satisfactory level from past experience I would employ both. Thank you B J Lenehan

Hi Jane If you want to have a go yourself I would use a steam wallpaper stripper and if you have problems with the plaster then you contact a plasterer. Alternatively a good decorator would do the whole job. Regards Martin
