Blending in cutting in on emullsioned walls

Can someone please tell me why when I emulsion a wall after cutting in the edges I sometimes seem to get a variation in shade between the wall and the cut in edge.

Shading, paint quality, brush and roller apply differently, is the paint neat or watered down the consistency maybe different if water has been added. Are you cutting in first the whole room the rolling?
