Do I need to PVA walls before painting?

I have new plasterboard wall tape and jointed and ready for painting. DO I need to apply PVA before painting or can paint straight away?

make sure the plaster is dry then use watered down pva before painting

Hi Alex, it is advisable to apply a mist coat (20% water added to contract matt), but no PVA is required.
