Jane, For your Damp Problem you need to get a Damp Proof specialist in to check causes. In regard to the Water Problem, check and see if you have Water above the area, e.g. Bathroom, Radiator, etc. as this could be causing problem. Also, check outside and see if there are Soil, Waste Pipes comong through wall above problem has could be caused by these with leaks. Also, check when the water appears worse, e.g. when you flush a toilet, run a bath, turn on Central Heating, etc... as this will give indication of a cause also. If the water is permanently coming through the wall whether anything is used or not then this could indicate a leak from a live pipe.
