Can a magnetic door contact be replaced by a PIR? New door fitted now

Can a magnetic door contact be replaced by a PIR? New door fitted now no clearance to refit the old contact on the frame. Alarm hasn't worked for 3 years now

That depends on the wiring. Check to see how many strand on the magnet cable and compare it to sensor connectors..
