Hi Maureen you seem to have been hit by some not so honest tradesmen, were they genuine mistakes or careless mistakes, if careless they should cover the mistakes cost wise, the other talk to the tradesmen and say 50/50. That's away from the point does a letter headed paper make any difference, put this way you are the judge on your workers you take a chance with all tradesmen. I as a tradesman have never given a letter headed paper to my clients, I give my client the quote noting all the work to be done and if the client is not happy with the work then I accept the payment will not be made until the job is finished. You yourself is taking a big risk if you pay up front or paying without having a final check, in this game tradesman must be fair and honest with clients and vice versa.. Hi maureen i agree with chris but i would also add that i hope you arent paying these guys that are making the mistakes or are the problems coming to light after the job if that is the case then take them to small claims court and get some money back . Alan
