Curtain poles on cavity plasterboard walls

Posted by nicola shah, on
We have curtain rails fixed to dormer windows, i.e. onto cavity plasterboard walls using cavity wall rawl plugs. The rails are now hanging off the wall and have increased the size of the hole so can't even replace using larger rawl plus. Grateful for any advice on what to do. Should we nail or glue in a long piece of wood to the plasterboard and then attach the curtain poles to the wood? Thanks
